Firmly Fossilized in the stagnant bedchamber of the deep
A shell of a mermaid flickered in the twilight zone

Tentacles scrambled franticly, upturning every scale
No Prince Eric to the rescue
Not a Disney Fairy Tale
And where’s the One who parted the Red See to make the way?

From above others gazed through a keel made of glass
From their yachts they double-clicked away for that deadly catch
Hoping to net true love with a plastic card
And even if
Love was about a mere touch
Could it be diluted to this cold-hearted grab and smash?

Upon Piercing the veneer of the ocean with a desperate sigh
Just before she blacked out, she gravely sang her heart out

There he was in all his eternal splendour, the greatest fisher of men
The king stepped out of the boat graciously
and grabbed his lost daughter by hand
